Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Dear valued supplier and customer,

Together we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. This global pandemic has deeply affected all of our businesses, communities, and personal lives. Here at PGM Recovery Systems we are trying to provide our best support to everyone as we continue to respond to this evolving situation.

First off, our hearts go out to any and all who have been affected directly or indirectly due to this virus. We wish the quickest recovery and best of health during this time. We are truly inspired by the selfless healthcare workers around the world who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for people in need.

Secondly, we want to let you know that we are making health and safety a priority for our employees, families and communities. As we aim to do this, I want you to know that we are focused on keeping our customers at the forefront of information and are doing everything that we can to make sure we are as transparent as possible with the changing market conditions.

Today in South Africa, March 30, Sibanye-Stillwater along with several major South African producers of platinum group metals are declaring a force majeure on contracts for their South African mining operations as they are not able to meet contractual obligations for shipments due to unforeseeable circumstances beyond their control. 80,0000+ workers have been asked to stay home and not come to work at the mines.

In the United States, because of required U.S. government guidelines, social distancing and mandatory stay at home policy’s, we are experiencing light staffing at PGM refinery operations in North America that is constraining existing capacity. In addition to the above, buyers for PGMs (manufacturers) have left the market for now.

What this means for our suppliers; we expect market conditions to remain tough for the next month or so. Now is a good time to hold off building inventory and increase capital. PGM Recovery Systems is still buying catalyst and sensors.

We also expect lead times for processing material to lengthen. We will continue to provide updates to the ever-changing conditions of our market and let you know how we can work together to continue our best efforts of productivity and efficiency. Please don’t hesitate to contact us and call with any questions at 619-427-8540. We wish everyone the best health and safety to all.

Sincerely,
Edmund Schwenk
