An OEM replacement catalytic converter can cost between $700 and $1,300 depending on the make and model of the car. Converters are typically more expensive when the engine is larger because the loadings of precious metals inside filter out the toxic exhaust coming from the inner workings of the vehicle. #1 The Ferrari F430 has the most expensive catalytic converter on the market. This rare catalytic converter costs about $3770.00. For the F430 two catalytic converters are required. Because of these the replacement cost would be $7540 and that’s before you include labor costs!

#2. TheLamborghini Aventador’s catalytic converter comes in at a high cost of $3,120 and just like the F430, it requires two converters. This will bring the total cost of a replacement $6,240 before labor!

#3. The Dodge Ram 2500, with a $3,460 price for its catalytic converter is the most expensive for this vehicle class. Surprisingly the third most expensive catalytic converter comes from an extremely popular vehicle line. Its popularity as a heavy-duty pickup truck in the US is for those who need greater towing and hauling capacity.

#4. Next to the Ford F-150, the F-250 is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the United States. Drivers can expect to pay approximately $2,800 for the Ford F-250 converter, a considerable price drop from the top three. 

#5. The Toyota Prius actually has a catalytic converter that is approximately $2,100. The reason it is more expensive than most cars even though it has a small engine, is that it constantly switches from electricity to gas. The precious metals that filter out the toxins need to operate at a lower temperature which means a higher loading is necessary. This catalytic converter is prone to higher levels of theft because of its high value and its popularity. So if you own a Pruis take precautions to keep your catalytic converter safe. 

#6. Ford Mustangs have catalytic converters priced at $1,500, a relatively low price compared to the others listed, but it is still a costly repair for its class. Considering the Ford Mustangs popularity it is important to note this vehicle class typically has a catalytic converter costing between $800 and $1200.
